The Western Isles Hotel offers guests superb views of Tobermory harbour and the bay from many vantage points, including the dining area and some of the bright, spacious rooms, such as the Glenlivet. Guests appreciate the generous breakfasts and the quality of the restaurant, where regional drinks are also available at the well-stocked bar. While most find the location ideal-just a short walk to the harbour-some guests have mentioned that the prices can be a little expensive for what you get. The hotel also offers unique features such as local artwork and a room designed by Banjo.

Decent Location, Underwhelming Stay
lack elevatorlukewarm breakfast
The lack of an elevator was a real problem. Hauling luggage to the upper floors was exhausting and inconvenient. The breakfast buffet was disappointing! Many of the hot items were barely lukewarm. The scrambled eggs were especially unappetizing. They tasted bland and rubbery.

drafty windowlukewarm food
I was a little disappointed with a couple of things. the window in my "double room sea view" didn't seal properly, so there was a constant draft. It was quite distracting. also, the cooked breakfast items at the buffet were often lukewarm. the location was perfect! though the parking was expensive.
The room upgrade to a sea view room was a treat. It was clean and spacious. The mattress offered great comfort, and the television size was adequate for the room. I found the staff helpful. They quickly addressed a minor issue I reported. I also enjoyed the wide variety of food at breakfast. The selection was abundant.
The absence of a lift made transporting luggage to the upper floors challenging. This should be addressed with mobility issues or heavy bags.
Rooms
9/10
The room had plenty of space to relax in the evening after a day of exploring. It included a big bath. The provided television offered a suitable size, and a very comfortable mattress also ensured restful nights.
Facilities
8/10
The conservatory dining bar area featured beautiful plants growing with delicate flowers. It's so quiet at night. This adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Guests have access to public spaces with great character and charm.
Location
10/10
The hotel has a fine location. It overlooks the bay and natural harbour. The taxi driver confirmed this is a traditional Scottish hotel. It offers a very pleasant location. It is quiet at night.
Dining
9/10
The breakfast was excellent. It included a huge variety of food to choose from. I ate twice in the conservatory restaurant. Both meals proved excellent. They had a range of gluten free choices too.
Service
10/10
The staff were helpful and friendly. They were warmly cute, assisting with all requests. Receptionists were very pleasant. This added to the positive experience . I got room upgrade to a sea view room on arrival.
